Amicus FAQ

Q: All LEDs on the control panel light up (EXPERT + START). „Error“ is displayed (EXPERT), "Ball Stuck" is displayed (PRIME).

A: Please check the plug contact of the connection cable (1). If the plug is correctly seated and no pins are bent, there may be a defect in the robot head (2) or in one of the motors (3), or the robot's power circuit board may be defective (4). In cases (2-4), the robot must be repaired. Please contact our technical service at amicus@butterfly.tt

Q: The ball is ejected too high or too flat despite calibration. The ball flies too far to the left or too far to the right. (PRIME, EXPERT, START)

A: Please make sure that the robot is standing vertically on the table. If the ball is ejected too high or too flat despite calibration (Off/On), the robot can

(1)    be tilted slightly forwards (flatter trajectory) by placing a flat object underneath.

(2)    If step (1) is not successful, the neutral position of the deflector can be adjusted manually. This requires a 2 mm Allen key with ball head. Please carefully check the position of the small black grub screw on the rear, upper edge of the deflector. The neutral position of the deflector can be influenced by carefully pushing the deflector in the respective direction and tightening the screw. Please proceed slowly and cautiously here, as the springs on the deflector base bend easily. Please restart the calibration after each attempt and check whether the new neutral position of the deflector solves the problem. The higher the deflector is mounted, the flatter the ball is played, the lower the mounting, the higher the balls are ejected. If you do not want to make this adjustment yourself or the deflector needs to be replaced, please contact our technical service at amicus@butterfly.tt

Q: The robot's spin is inaccurate or very weak, the balls scatter in one direction (PRIME, EXPERT, START)

A: The shot rollers may not be correctly adjusted (1) or may be worn out (2).

(1)    Check the correct distance between the rollers with the spacer tube. The spacer is inserted into the ejection tube with a little force and pulled out again with slight right-left movements. This sets the correct distance between the shooting rollers. The distance is correct when the rollers touch the upper edge of the ejection tube very lightly.

(2)    The foam shot rollers are wearing parts. If the rollers are too worn, they must be replaced. To do this, loosen the screw on the inside of the lower roller, remove it and screw in the new roller. To replace the upper shot rollers, the wheels must be completely removed. Check the correct distance to the ejector through the distance tube (1). You can find the replacement rollers here: https://de.butterfly.tt/amicus-shooting-wheels.html

Q: The tablet loses connection to the robot (PRIME)

A: Please check the following steps to solve the problem:

(1)    A common cause of disconnections is signal interference from other Bluetooth-enabled devices in the vicinity. Please ensure that there are no devices such as smartphones, tablets, etc. in the direct vicinity of the robot or that their Bluetooth function is switched off.

(2)    If you are using your own device, please make sure that the original tablet is switched off. The robot can only be connected to one control unit at a time.

(3)    Please check whether the tablet is using the latest software.

(4)    A factory reset (reset to factory settings) of the tablet may be necessary. To do this, go to the "Settings" -> "System" -> "Reset options" -> "Delete all data (factory settings)" menu.

(5)    Please also check the power supply to the robot. If the power cable is not connected correctly, the Bluetooth connection will not work either.

Q: The robot does not start (PRIME, EXPERT, START)

A: There may be a problem with the power supply.

(1)    Please first check that the power cable is correctly seated.

(2)    The power circuit board on the robot base may be loose. Please loosen the 4 screws on the front of the robot and carefully remove the metal cover. Remove the power cable and carefully press down on the board at the top right corner (opening does not affect the warranty). This part of the circuit board does not carry any power or current. Reconnect the cable and check if the problem has been solved.

Q: The robot plays 2 balls in quick succession (PRIME, EXPERT, START)

A: In most cases, this problem is due to the incorrectly set height of the robot head.

(1)    The robot head may be fixed at the wrong height (1). Please ensure that the tube on the base is always mounted at the height of one of the white (red) rings, never between 2 rings.

Q: How can I share exercises or import shared exercises (PRIME)?

A: Sharing and importing exercises works via a Gmail account.

(1)    Share exercises: Please set up a Gmail account on your tablet and log in with your existing Gmail account. Select the "Edit" button in the "Exercises" list. Tick all the exercises you want to share and then tap on "Share" at the top. If you then select "Gmail", a new email will be opened and the selected exercises will be automatically attached.

(2)    Import exercises: If the exercises are received as an email, tap on the file in the attachment that you want to import. If the operating system asks which app should be used to open the file, select the Amicus app. The exercise is imported and opened in the Amicus app and can be edited and saved.
